Ongoing Projects

Schooldesks Project

With Grade 7 introduced, FractionForFuture provided 30 new desks with lockers for St. Joseph the Worker Primary School. Mzee Famau, a craftsman from Malindi, built them in two weeks. The desks will be delivered soon.

Demonstration Farm

The Demonstration Farm in Marafa trains local farmers in sustainable agriculture and food security. The project focuses on fruit trees, irrigation, and soil conservation. It creates long-term farming solutions.

Sports Field

FractionForFuture built a sports field at St. Joseph the Worker Primary School to promote physical activity. The space includes football goals, volleyball nets, and climbing structures. It now serves as a key recreational hub.

Irene’s Pig Farm

FractionForFuture improved Irene’s Pig Farm by upgrading feeding systems, infrastructure, and farmer training. The farm started with 14 malnourished pigs, but better nutrition and care boosted productivity. Future plans include breeding programs.

Book Shipment

FractionForFuture shipped 800 books to Sint Maarten and The Gambia in collaboration with Biblionef and BeNe Gambia. 400 medical textbooks went to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, and 400 fiction and non-fiction books to schools and libraries. The books support...

Upcoming Projects

Marafa Community Survey Project

FractionForFuture distributed 100 surveys throughout the Marafa community and its surrounding areas, including schools and local community members connected to the Marafa church. The surveys, available in English and Swahili, included basic questions aimed at identifying key areas for improvement within the community. The results will help guide future projects to address the most pressing needs in Marafa.

AFRIpads Evaluation Project

Following the launch of the AFRIpads Project, FractionForFuture is conducting a trial phase to evaluate its effectiveness. A simple survey with visual indicators will be distributed to participating girls on March 17, 2025, to gather feedback on the usability and impact of the reusable sanitary kits. This process will be repeated several times to ensure a comprehensive evaluation. Additionally, Esther, who led the initial AFRIpads presentation, will return to the school for direct discussions with the girls, allowing for deeper insights into their experiences and identifying areas for improvement.

Black Soldier Fly Farm Project

To create a sustainable feed source for Irene’s Pig Farm, FractionForFuture is developing a Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farm at St. Joseph the Worker, Catholic Diocese of Malindi. BSF larvae efficiently convert organic waste into high-protein animal feed, offering an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional pig feed.

After initially supplying wheat bran from the Netherlands for one year, FractionForFuture sought a more sustainable solution. Through veterinarian and board member Celeste van Hilten, the team connected with Victor Osage, a BSF farm specialist for coastal regions. On March 14, 2025, Victor will conduct an on-site analysis in Marafa to determine the optimal location, input-output balance, and infrastructure needs.

Following this assessment, he will return to Nairobi to finalize the planning before coming back to Marafa with a team to build the BSF farm. Father Peter Ndegwa advised starting on a small scale, ensuring proper management and community adaptation before expanding the farm to benefit the entire Marafa community.

Dingen worden onderweg vanzelf duidelijk. Die uitspraak is inmiddels mijn levensmotto geworden en works like a charm. Zo is FractionForFuture ook tot leven gekomen, ik ben vastbesloten om van mijn passie voor mens en natuur in Afrika mijn werk te maken. Stap voor stap bouwen we samen aan een betere wereld. Daarom ben ik ervan overtuigd dat er altijd een manier is, al helemaal als je de juiste visie hebt. Ik denk graag in oplossingen en hoe wel ik groot dierenliefhebber ben denk zie ik geen beren op de weg. Wel zie ik altijd een weg vooruit, vlieg ik kansen met een scherpe blik en een oplossingsgerichte mindset aan. Daarnaast is eerlijkheid voor mij een pre en klopt mijn hart voor dieren.

Lieve Bokeloh

Meer op het water dan op het land, maar altijd met een lach. Of het nu surfen, kiten, zeilen of zwemmen is, ik voel me als een vis in het water. Wanneer ik wel op het land ben, kun je me buiten vinden op de fiets of op de schaatsen. Ik sta altijd open voor een nieuw avontuur! Ik ben een ware levensgenieter met een enorme passie voor hospitality en mensen. Ook ben ik ondernemend in de breedste zin van het woord, dit in combinatie met mijn commerciële achtergrond zorgt ervoor dat ik altijd in de startblokken sta. Klaar om nieuwe uitdagingen aan te gaan. Met mijn enthousiasme probeer ik iedereen in beweging te krijgen om samen het verschil te maken, dit neem ik mee in alles wat we als Fraction For Future doen.

Eva Schyns

De wereld is mijn speelveld en avontuur mijn tweede natuur. Plannen zit in mijn bloed. Als enthousiaste hiker en wereldreiziger neem ik graag de leiding in het uitstippelen van nieuwe duurzame initiatieven en ben ik klimaat expert in hart en nieren. Duurzaamheid is de way to go voor betere toekomst. Zo stippel ik graag nieuwe routes uit, zowel op de kaart als binnen duurzame projecten. Mijn motto is ‘work hard, play harder’ en dat straal ik uit in alles wat ik doe. Met een rugzak vol kennis en een liefde voor avontuur en niet te vergeten Jane Fonda, hoop ik met Fraction For Future vooruit te kijken en groot te dromen.

Celeste van Hilten

De natuur is mijn thuis en dieren mijn grootste passie. Dat staat op mijn lijf geschreven. Als dierenarts en echte doener sta ik altijd klaar om de handen uit de mouwen te steken, zowel in Nederland als in Afrika. Daarnaast ben ik met trots een natuurliefhebber, geniet optimaal van de buitenwereld, heb ik ook ontzettend groene vingers en hou ik ervan om met onze familiehond Pipa te wandelen. Met mijn praktische instelling en liefde voor dieren, het milieu, de buitenwereld en groen sta ik klaar om met toewijding verschil te maken.
